Managing menopause  

The normal pattern of female menstrual cycle is 28 days. However, some women may experience shorter or longer cycles. If a women experience unpredictable periods pattern, she should see her doctor to determine the cause. If a woman aged between 13 and 24 and has experienced unpredictable or skip periods, she should consult her endocrinologist to check for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a very common and under-diagnosed problem. Then, women with polycystic ovaries should contact the Dietitian for a diet specially designed for women with PCOS.


1.    Healthy eating

  • Calcium Intake
  • Iron Intake
  • Vitamin D intake
  • Get enough fiber
  • Eat more fruit & vegetables
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Reduce food high in fat
  • Use moderate sugar & salt
  • Limit alcohol intake


2.    Regular exercise

  • 30 minutes per day, most days a week.

3.    Avoid alcohol & smoking

  • stop smoking
  • minimise alcohol consumption

4.   Regular checkups

  • regular PAP tests
  • Breast checks

5.    Emotional health

  • Speak to your GP about how you are feeling

6.    Maintain a healthy lifestyle
