PreventionThere are many ways to keep you away from developing sleep apnea and stop snoring. These are as following:
1.   Avoid drinking alcohol at night and stop taking sleeping pills before going to sleep. Alcohol and sleeping pills relax the muscles at the back of your throat. This interferes with breathing by slowing down the breathing processes.
2.   Eating healthy foods and exercise regularly. This will help maintain healthy weight. If you are overweight or obese, sleep apnea is likely to develop.
3.   Sleep on your side as sleeping on your back will increase your snoring. Sleeping on your back can cause your tongue to rest on the back of your throat resulting in airway blockage.
4.   Quit smoking if you are a smoker. Not smoking will prevent you from developing many diseases. In addition, nicotine relaxes muscles behind your throat that causes blockage in the airways. Quit smoking, as it will help you breath better.
5.   If you have breathing problems, you should treat it immediately. It will help stop you from snoring and prevent you from developing sleep apnea.
If you snore loudly and heavily at night and feel tired and sleepy during the day, you should see your doctor and talk about it. Also, remember to talk to you doctor first before starting to use any nasal spray or nasal medications.
