Many stroke patients may have difficulty using their limbs without help so attempting exercise on your own can be dangerous.

A physiotherapist will be able to advise on exercises which can be done on your own and ones which you can build up to.

Don’t overdo your exercise routines when you are starting out. The best way is to work up to a rigorous workout over weeks and months, increasing intensity and duration gradually as you get stronger. While exercise is beneficial to recovery, excess strain and stress on the body won’t help your recovery and may knock your confidence.  Your health professionals will provide the best guidance throughout the recovery process.
